After fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in GT2 for the 2007 season, Rahal Letterman Racing announced in February that will field the BMW M3 in IMSA’s GT2S class with a scheduled debut for Petit Le Mans before launching a two-car effort for the 2009 season. A winner at Sebring and in the Can-Am era, Rahal won three CART championships and a win at the Indy 500 in 1986 as a driver. His team, co-owned by late-night legend David Letterman has been nearly as prolific. In its first season in the American Le Mans Series, Rahal Letterman posted five podium finishes in the last seven races including third-place showings at Petit Le Mans and the Monterey Sports Car Championships to close out the season. The team’s best showings were runnerup finishes at Lime Rock and Road America.
